Just 20 minutes south from Byron Bay, Lennox Head is a picturesque seaside village on the stunning stretch of coastline between Byron Bay and Ballina. Best known for its famous surf break at Lennox Point, Lennox Head offers plenty of fun for non-surfers too.
Lennox holiday homes are located on and around Seven Mile Beach, a sugar-white sandy beach with sloping shores stretching south from rainforest-covered Broken Head Nature Reserve. Just inland sits Lake Ainsworth, a river-fed freshwater dune lake stained with the colour of tea by tannins from the surrounding tea trees. The long stretch of gorgeous coastline and the tranquil waters of this freshwater dune lake make this the perfect place for summer swimming from your Lennox Head holiday rental.
Wherever you stay in Lennox, you’ll enjoy the laid-back village atmosphere of this vibrant community. Picture yourself strolling through the pretty town centre and window-shopping in chic boutiques. Sunday markets twice a month at the community centre are a good source for fresh organic produce, coffee and wares. Browse menu boards outside cosy restaurants or take life easy with alfresco dining at your luxury holiday house, perhaps with a private pool.
THINGS TO DO IN LENNOX HEAD
Pack your surfboard (or your binoculars!) when you visit Lennox Head. In 2007, the sugar-white Seven Mile Beach was declared a National Surfing Reserve - only the third of its kind to be recognised in Australia. Lennox Point is a world-famous point break for experienced surfers, boasting the internationally acclaimed right-hand point break, which breaks along the basalt boulders.
If you don’t fancy surfing, more adrenaline-pumping activities can be enjoyed not far from your Lennox Head accommodation. Hang-gliders launch themselves from the 65m high cliff, and paragliding is a great way to enjoy the coastal views.
Pat Morton Lookout provides a pleasant walk and visitors are rewarded with panoramic views across the quiet coastal town and breathtaking coastline. Between May and October, it’s a great place for whale watching. Imagine the excitement catching a glimpse of whale spouts or “breaching’ whales as these huge mammals migrate just offshore. The headland is also a popular hangout for spectators to watch surfers carve up the waves, particularly in August when the area hosts the Lennox Longboard Classics, or in July during the Gromfest. Dolphins often join in the fun along this gorgeous coastline.
Visitors staying in Lennox Head holiday homes won’t want to miss a day at Lake Ainsworth, a rare dune lake with calm water for swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, fishing, kayaking and canoeing. Families will find plenty of shade and barbecue facilities for enjoying a relaxing day in this scenic spot.
