Ballina Accommodation

Ballina holiday homes open up a host of possibilities at this “Gateway to Byron Bay” in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. Known for its fishing and seafood, the town is actually situated on an island in the Richmond River, although you’d never know it. East Ballina beach houses (many with coastal views) are separated from the West Ballina riverfront by the North Creek, but both areas offer great places to stay.

There’s something for families, couples, walkers, surfers and history lovers to appreciate from Ballina holiday homes and beach houses. The town probably got its name from the Bundjalung word bullinah, which means “place of many oysters”, although today the town is better known as the home of the Big Prawn attraction! The historic port town with its impressive architecture dates back to the 1840s and the original Richmond River Lighthouse was constructed in 1866. Ballina’s fascinating history is told in the excellent Naval and Maritime Museum, one of the best in the country.

Ballina holiday homes are served by the nearby Pacific Highway and the expanding Ballina/Byron Airport, making it very easy to enjoy a weekend getaway at this thriving coastal resort.
